My New Toy, PowerSmart 2 Stage Snow Thrower

On Saturday, Massapequa got 27 inches of snow. Since my heart attack almost two years ago, the one activity that I am not permitted to do is shovel snow. I work out five times a week at the gym, haven’t felt better in years, but my cardiologist will not permit me to shovel. So my 2015 end of year present to myself was a PowerSmart 2 Stage Snow Thrower.

I was pretty much certain that since I made the investment and since we had such a mild fall, that it would be irony and we wouldn’t get enough snow this year for me to use my new toy, but I was wrong! The 27 inches of snow was just the right way for me to break in my snow thrower!

We really did get A LOT OF SNOW!

Only thing is, I do not recommend you try to snow throw a basketball with your snow thrower. Yes, I am guilty. I went out three times on Saturday, and the third and final time to do snow cleanup, I decided to make more room for my kids to play, so I started to clear out the area where they play basketball, hockey and soccer. I was moving right along until I heard a loud noise and started smelling burning rubber. One of the kids’ basketballs got shredded in the snow thrower and I broke the belt. First thing Sunday morning, I was out replacing the belt so I could finish my snow clearing!

I am very happy with this investment.  We live on a corner lot and have a big driveway and two entrances.  Since I cannot shovel, it would be too much on my wife and kids to do alone.  This was a great investment, and if we are going to get more snow this season, BRING IT ON!  I’m ready!
